Driving eCommerce was born from a simple frustration: Dealerships do not need "more software." They need tools that actually survive the chaos of a busy showroom or a packed service drive.
My career in this industry started in a dealership parts department in Dayton, Ohio. I moved sheet metal over the wholesale counter before making the jump to variable ops and taking my turns on the showroom floor. I learned exactly how a store breathes, from the grease of the service bays to the stress of a month end close. I know firsthand that what works perfectly on a corporate spreadsheet does not always work on the front lines.
When I transitioned out of the dealership and into the world of B2B automotive software, I saw a massive disconnect. General Managers and Fixed Ops Directors were constantly being pitched by tech reps who had never written a repair order or desked a deal. Tech companies were building solutions for problems they did not actually understand.
I built Driving eCommerce to bridge that gap. This is not a directory of generic tech tools. It is a specialized marketplace designed to cut through the digital noise. We help dealerships research, compare, and connect with automotive solutions that actually drive gross profit, eliminate operational bottlenecks, and make your team more efficient.
This is a marketplace built for results. We showcase the tools that help you and your team work more effectively. If you have an operational challenge and need a direct connection to a solution, just reach out.

Owner's Manual: Topic
Selling cars has always been about relationships and building value, but the way customers start that journey has fundamentally changed. Long before a buyer ever steps foot on the showroom floor, they are exploring your inventory online, comparing prices, and researching your reputation. Building a digital ecosystem that supports your sales team is one of the most effective ways to increase volume and protect front-end gross.
A successful digital strategy is not just about having a webpage. It is about creating a seamless flow that attracts local buyers, engages them with helpful information, and smoothly transitions them to your sales desk. This guide offers a high-level overview of how the four main pillars of digital e-commerce work together to support your sales department.
Your website is essentially your digital showroom. Just as you keep your physical lot clean, well-lit, and easy to navigate, your website needs to offer that same welcoming experience. A modern dealership website acts as the foundation for everything else you do online.
A strong digital storefront focuses on speed and mobile-friendly design, ensuring that a customer looking at a vehicle on their phone experiences no lag or frustration. Clear inventory presentation, high-quality photos, and easy-to-read pricing build immediate transparency. When the foundational website is strong, shoppers feel comfortable spending time browsing your lot virtually.
Once you have a beautiful digital showroom, the next step is getting people to visit it. Automotive marketing is all about capturing local market share and putting your inventory in front of the right buyers at the exact moment they are ready to upgrade.
A well-rounded marketing strategy utilizes a mix of channels. Pay-per-click (PPC) and search engine optimization (SEO) ensure your store shows up when someone nearby searches for a new truck or a reliable used car. Social media advertising keeps your brand top-of-mind in the community, while targeted email campaigns help you re-engage past customers who might be approaching the end of their lease. Good marketing creates a steady, reliable stream of digital foot traffic.
Generating web traffic is great, but traffic alone does not sell cars. Web tools are the interactive features that bridge the gap between a casual browser and a committed buyer. These tools are designed to answer questions, build confidence, and ultimately encourage the customer to schedule an appointment.
Interactive elements like digital retailing platforms allow buyers to structure their own deals and estimate monthly payments from their couch. Trade-in value calculators provide instant gratification for shoppers wondering what their current car is worth. Friendly, automated chat widgets can answer basic questions after hours. By providing these helpful tools, you turn anonymous web traffic into highly qualified internet leads.
Now that your website and marketing have generated leads, the final pillar is managing that activity efficiently. Operational software ensures that no opportunity falls through the cracks and that your sales desk has total visibility into the pipeline.
A reliable Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system helps your sales team organize their daily tasks, follow up on fresh leads, and maintain long-term relationships with sold customers. Desking tools help managers structure profitable deals quickly without relying on messy paperwork. By bringing your showroom operations into a unified digital system, you empower your team to work faster, communicate better, and ultimately close more deals.
